About Us
With a background spanning distinguished military service, for-profit finance, and over 15 years in the nonprofit sector, Chris Lozier helps philanthropists bring mission-driven clarity and strategic precision to their giving.
Chris’s approach was forged during his service as a U.S. Navy submarine officer, where he led teams in complex, high-stakes environments. There, he honed the principles of meticulous planning, operational excellence, and unwavering focus on the objective. Recognizing this same discipline could transform charitable giving, he founded Fathom Impact to offer a more strategic path to maximizing social impact and personal fulfillment.
Under Chris’s leadership, Fathom Impact applies the strategic rigor of military planning to help clients navigate complex decisions and achieve measurable, meaningful impact. The firm is distinguished by its commitment to deep analysis, clear execution, and a partnership approach that ensures a family’s or foundation’s values are at the center of every strategy.
Chris’s leadership experience is extensive and includes roles such as:
Interim CEO at NAMI Chicago
COO at NewSchools Venture Fund
COO at the National Center for Teacher Residencies
COO at Civitas Education Partners
He has also advised other organizations in the education and renewable energy sectors, blending his nonprofit expertise with a background in strategic finance.
Chris earned his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. In addition to his work with Fathom, he serves on the Board of Directors for NAMI Chicago, co-hosts the podcasts If You’ve Come This Far and Pour It On, and has played mandolin in the bluegrass band, Hayward, for nearly 25 years.
Chris brings the full depth of his experience to every engagement, helping individuals, foundations, and DAFs create a legacy of meaning and impact. He lives in Chicago with his wife, Monisha, and their two amazing daughters.
